About this tour

Cheverny, Chambord, Blois, Versailles… Do these names ring a bell? Have you always dreamed of visiting France’s most beautiful castles and of roaming the country’s prettiest roads on a motorcycle?​

The tour will begin from our local Bordeaux Universal Riders agency to discover the lovely Bordelais region, the treasures of the Atlantic Coast and the notorious Loire castles. Our motorcycle tour from Bordeaux to Paris ends of course with a visit of the Palace of Versailles and of Paris, the City of Lights.

Open your eyes wide and allow yourself to be charmed by the most magnificent landscapes of our country in order to take full advantage of this trip and all these amazing sites. You will also have the opportunity to taste some local delicacies and to savor, with moderation, a few great French vintages.

During spring, summer or fall, this 7 day tour through Western France is a must for any motorcycle driver: you will go home full of unforgettable memories!​

Itinerary

  • Day 1
    Beginning of the trip in Bordeaux
    Beginning of the trip in Bordeaux

    Bordeaux is the starting point of this motorcycle trip to Paris. Come and join us at our local Universal Riders agency to finalize your trip and discover your fancy ride for the next 6 days.​

    If needed, a free shuttle service is available to pick you up at the train station or the airport and take you to our agency.​

    After a brief runover of the trip details, our team will show you how to take control of your bike. You will then be able to check in to your hotel room before heading out to discover the beautiful city and its rich history.​

    Night in a 3 or 4 star hotel in the center of Bordeaux.​

  • Day 2
    Bordeaux – Royan (130 km - 81 miles)

    Leave Bordeaux via road D209, then D2, which trail the Garonne river and the Gironde estuary and head toward Pointe de Grave, where you will board the ferry to Royan.​​

    On your way there, you will cross one of the biggest fine wine vineyards of the world. The Bordelais region accounts for 60 different designations of origin and covers nearly 112,000 hectares: every wine enthusiast’s dream! Margaux, Latour, Lafite-Rothschild, Pauillac, Saint-Estèphe and their castles have a few surprises for you.​

    During a visit of some of these vineyards, you will be able to purchase a few bottles, either as a gift for your friends, as a souvenir or to drink them in the evening, once your motorcycle is safely parked at the hotel.​​

    Royan – Saumur (290 km - 180 miles)

    On this 3rd day of your trip, the treasures of the Atlantic Coast are waiting for you with open arms. You will follow the wild coastline of the Arvert peninsula, heading North, and then cross the forest of La Coubre until you reach Île d'Oléron.

    You will then discover the city of La Rochelle, a thousand year old city, full of history and dazzling architecture, in addition to being France’s 8th biggest commercial port.​

    Late in the morning, it will be time to leave the coast. You will then take smaller county roads and cross the Marais Poitevin natural park, as well as the Deux-Sèvres county until you reach the Loire valley and the beautiful city of Saumur. This city is especially known for its cavalry school, its castle and its wines.

  • Day 4
    Saumur – Amboise (120 km - 75 miles)
    Saumur – Amboise (120 km - 75 miles)

    During this brief leg of only 75 mi (120 km), you will roam through the regional Loire-Anjou-Touraine natural park and begin your visit of some of the Loire’s most beautiful castles, which should interest any history buffs and old stone enthusiasts.​

    In the morning, you will travel to the city of Azay-le-Rideau and visit the local Renaissance-era castle, surrounded by moats. Then, after lunch, you will discover the remarkable Château de Chenonceau and all of its wonders.

    Finally, you will reach Amboise in the middle of the afternoon, where you will be able to explore the city at your leisure and discover the local castle, the “Porte de l’Horloge” gate and the “Clos Lucé”, Leonardo da Vinci’s home which now houses a permanent exhibit of the artist’s work.

    Another day of rich discoveries which will include the visit of three flagships of French history and culture.​

    You may begin with the Château de Cheverny, made famous by Hergé. He was inspired by this castle when creating the Château de Moulinsart, where Captain Haddock lives at the end of "The Adventures of Tintin", the well-known comic book.

    You will then visit the grandiose Château de Chambord, commissioned by François 1er in the 16th century. This castle is a true architectural treasure, as shown by its magnificent double spiral stairwell and Italian-style terraces.

    Finally, the day will end with a visit of the Château royal de Blois, whose construction began in the 12th century.

  • Day 6

    For this 6th day of the trip, ride your motorcycle along the Loire river. You will take a first break mid-morning to visit the Meung-sur-Loire castle. Built in the 12th century, this castle was alternatively used as a home for the bishops of Orléans and as a prison.​

    You will then head North toward the capital for the last surprise of this high-end motorcycle tour: Versailles, the most monumental palace built in France.​

    Known for its long Hall of Mirrors, its vast 815 hectare park, its Trianon, its Orangery, the former residence of Louis the 14th, the 15th and the 16th is world famous and greets millions of international tourists every year.

    This trip ends with a bang in the City of Lights, which you will have the opportunity to visit at your leisure. The Louvre, Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe, Montmartre and its Sacré-Cœur… all these emblematic monuments will unveil all of their secrets to you!​
