What are the greatest places in Strasbourg ?

  • Notre-Dame cathedral:

The amazing 15th century pink stone cathedral is truly a must-see: you should go to the church square and look at the surrounding shops. In winter, the place is also the heart of the world-famous Strasbourg Christmas market which attracts millions of visitors every year in December.

  • Cycling around the city:

park your motorcycle and change your setting while staying on two wheels... Strasbourg has been a forerunner in the development of bike paths; so it is now a pleasure to go cycling around the city. After visiting the center, make sure you stop by the Parc de l'Orangerie.

  • The Parc de l'Orangerie:

This 26-hectare public garden, which is often considered as the jewel of the city, is worth the detour. The identity of its creator is unsure: it may either be André Le Nôtre or Antoine du Chaffat. Anyways, the park is truly incredible.

  • La Petite France:

You should then drive back to the historical center of the city to find the oldest houses of Strasbourg, its narrow streets, its old corner shops... The district has been classified in the world heritage by UNESCO since 1988.

  • Restaurants of Alsatian specialties:

While visiting Strasbourg, you will have to go to a real Weinstube (small inns that are also found everywhere in Alsace). There, you will have the opportunity to taste a true Alsatian sauerkraut or a "Coq au Riesling" (cockerel in Riesling wine) served with spaetzli, and then have a kugelhopf for dessert... But this is only an example, so feel free to have a look at any menus that will be presented to you and try anything you want: you won't be disappointed!

Strasbourg and its wonderful region

Thanks to its geographical location, Strasbourg is also a great starting point to discover a region between France and Germany. Your motorcycle rides will therefore be filled with beautiful landscapes and cultural discoveries.

From the village of Marlenheim to Thann you will enjoy plenty of panoramas on Alsace and its vineyards. Feel free to visit Colmar, Obernai, Ribeauvillé, Kaysersberg and its castle which overlooks the valley before you end up in Thann at the foot of the Vosges foothills. The Alsace Wine Route is made up of over 170 kms of undeniably charming roads. They pass through more than 120 villages, many of which have received the labels of "Plus Beaux Détours de France" (the most beautiful detours in France) or "Plus Beaux Villages de France" (the most beautiful villages in France). Be careful not to succumb to the temptation of these vines and safely park your rental motorcycle at the hotel before visiting the cellars and wine estates.

You are staying for a few days in Strasbourg? Then, don't hesitate: take your brand new BMW R1200 RT for a ride through the Black Forest and towards Bavaria. You can drive to Munich, visit the BMW Museum which is well worth a visit, and then drive along the Swiss border on your way back to Strasbourg.

If you are traveling at the beginning of July, you may have the chance to attend the annual BMW Motorrad Days in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany. Every biker should attend this event at least once in their life. The only problem is that the call of the mountains may win you over.

You enjoy the mountains? Renting a bike in Strasbourg may give you the opportunity to drive all the way from the Vosges to the Alpine passes and summits! At the end of your road trip, you can simply return your rental motorcycle to our Universal Riders agency in Lyon.

No matter which road you choose, you will drive through thousands of sharp turns, curves and crossroads and gather many unforgettable memories… That's for certain!
